Small changes can make a big difference.

Not every fix needs a redesign. Some of the biggest wins I've seen came from moving one thing a few pixels or cutting one word.

When a flow isn't working, the instinct is to start again. Usually the problem is smaller and more specific than that, and testing is how you find it.

The kind of changes I mean

  • A clearer button label. Swapping a vague "Continue" for what actually happens next.
  • One less form field. Every field is a question. Ask only the ones you need right now.
  • A reordered step. Putting the decision people care about first, not the one the system needs first.
  • Better error messages. Saying what went wrong and how to fix it, next to the field it's about.

The trick is watching where people hesitate. A pause, a re-read, a scroll back up: that's usually where the small change lives.
